What is a Special Education Parent Advisory Group (SEPAG)?
A Special Education Parent Advisory Group (SEPAG, pronounced sea-pag) gives parents an active, parent-led voice in shaping local special education services and systemic policies. Required by New Jersey state regulation (N.J.A.C. 6A:14-1.2(h)), this group works collaboratively with district leadership to address broad, system-level challenges and opportunities in special education.
Because SEPAGs are designed at the local level, our district has the flexibility to build an advisory group that directly addresses the unique needs of our community. To be most effective, a SEPAG focuses on broader, district-wide improvements rather than individual student cases. By bringing together diverse perspectives from across our schools, we can foster meaningful collaboration and advocate for positive outcomes that benefit all students with disabilities.
